Hello deviantART friends! How are you all doing? :)

Does anyone around here still remember me? I haven't been posting very much at all or interacting...I've pretty much gone invisible so I understand if no one here knows or remember me.
If you do remember me, I've got exciting news! Even if you don't know me, it's still exciting! :dummy:

I've written and illustrated my first graphic novel!

Yes!!! I'm so stoked. I've been working hard over the past 7 months to bring my story from ideas to a reality other people can read and enjoy.

It's called GREY SKIES, and it's a short story about past lovers meeting again after a bitter breakup. It explores love, hate and forgiveness in a 4 chapter comic.

I've been constantly posting about it on my other social media, but here's the official facebook page for more information on the book and even a link to preview the 1st and 2nd chapter!

The book is online and ready for sale but I'm currently waiting for my draft copy to arrive for final checks, so the link for the book is still private. Check back soon for when I open the link! I'm dropping my first "big" move for marketing in a couple days, so I'll update my journal with a link to that!

Hope everyone is doing well, and I'd love to hear your thoughts about Grey Skies and if anyone is interested in reading the story once it's out. God bless you all. :) :rose:

Hello guys! Here's a quick peek at the process of my piece "He makes me white as Snow". I hope it will be helpful to someone!

I started off with pencil on paper! I find that starting with pencil and finishing digitally really gets the best of both traditional and digital mediums. You have the ease of using a pencil (as a tablet is similar but doesn't feel exactly like traditional drawing on  paper). You also effortlessly get the natural texture from using traditional mediums, but when you work with digital also, you get the freedom to tweak and experiment with values/colors etc. without fear of damaging or loosing the original clean line art or base piece.
Thanks to my bud Austin DeGroot for inspiring me to work using this method! Check out his awesome art on his Instagram!

Here's the raw/unedited pencil:

I wrote the text to overlay by hand to have a more organic feel to it. I wrote it multiple times and in different styles and i just picked the ones that looked best/conveyed the feeling of the piece the most.

Here's the page from my book.

I use GIMP for working digitally but you can use Photoshop or any software you have that's similar!
If you can't afford Photoshop and/or have trouble getting it i highly recommend GIMP!

For the values, I used blending modes!
Instead of shading directly on the layer of the outline, I created a new layer over the outlines and selected an appropriate blending mode (check below for my quick ideas on it). Now whatever you do on that layer, will blend with the layer below, in this case, the outline!

For colors/dark shades, I usually use the blending mode on "Multiply"
and for highlights, I use the blending mode "Soft light"
or sometimes i don't use any blending mode on the highlights (like the rim lights) to retain their intensity.

It can take some experimenting to get used to shading with the help of blending modes but that's the beauty of working digitally, you can start over again if you don't like the results and you can tweak the values without affecting the lineart! :)

Here's a look at some of my layers. I use a lot and I should probably arrange them and work more effectively with them hehe.

I found when i scaled the photograph of the text and overlayed it, it got pixelated. So i vectorized it using Inkscape (you can use Illustrator if you have it), i exported it larger than i needed it, scaled it to the size i need, and voila!

I'll also mention, if you noticed, that the head was a bit too big in the pencil art so i used IWarp (equivalent of Liquify on Photoshop) to shrink the head and to make him smile a bit more.

There's a lot more behind this but I hope this kind of gave you an idea of my process on it and was helpful!

More importantly to me, I hope this piece spoke to you!

To God be all the glory, honor and praise. Just a friendly reminder, Jesus loves you and He's reaching out to you! :)

God bless you all!

Hi guys! How are you all doing? :)

I've been quite inactive here on DeviantART, I still check my messages regularly but I just don't upload frequently.
I still draw and make a lot of art, I upload them frequently on my instagram so you can follow me there if you like seeing my work! Little insight of my life there, I post fast work, WIPs and I post videos of my figure skating progress too, so you can see that there if you'd like to see what I do besides art! I just posted a peek of my profile below, just visit the link for the whole profile!

Hope you've all been doing well. :) God bless you!

Hello guys!
I got a small project coming up! It initially started as simple as wanting to do fashion illustrations. I implemented a comic style to them just for style, but it gave me the idea to actually make a small comic with them as the main characters! Here's the characters so far:

Chick by Greenpuffle Honey by Greenpuffle Darling by Greenpuffle

So hopefully I can get started on the actual comic really soon! I'm looking to produce content quickly so I can get it out there. :)
Hope you guys have been doing well!
